KEVA Planks
KEVA Planks are small, wooden blocks meant to be stacked and assembled into structures of all shapes and sizes. Unlike some other popular building toys, these blocks do not "stick" together; therefore, it takes a lot of ingenuity and pre-planning to build with them. KEVA Planks allow students to think critically and solve problems through different architectural challenges. Students learn how to decode visual information and transfer that into the construction of their structures. Partner or group challenges are a way for students to learn how to work together to solve problems. This, of course, takes teamwork and communication - two very important learning experiences. This station will challenge students to build structures from given data using scientific reasoning, logic, and predictions.

Objectives
Science SOL 4.1
The student will demonstrate an understanding of scientific reasoning, logic, and the nature of science by planning and conducting investigations in which:
e) predictions and inferences are made, and conclusions are drawn based on data from a variety of sources;
l) models are constructed to clarify explanations, demonstrate relationships, and solve needs
Science SOL 5.1
The student will demonstrate an understanding of scientific reasoning, logic, and the nature of science by planning and conducting investigations in which:
h) predictions are made using patterns from data collected, and simple graphical data are generated;
i) inferences are made and conclusions are drawn;
j) models are constructed to clarify explanations, demonstrate relationships, and solve needs; and
k) current applications are used to reinforce science concepts.
